The Past History of InMotion
The 2024 season kicked off with a 2nd place in 2A/3A at Davenport North then a week later hosted a highly successful Music in Motion Invitational. At Keokuk they placed 2nd in 3A and 5th in the Finals with Summer Schroeder named Best Female Soloist. InMotion took the top spot in 3A at Pella and won 3 caption awards for Best Band, Best Choreography and Best Vocals. At Central Lee they earned the coveted title of Grand Champions and got a caption award for Best Vocals. Natalie McCormick was chosen Best Female Soloist at Ft. Madison as InMotion placed 1st in 3A and 2nd Runner-up in the Finals. VIDEO PHOTOS

The 2023 season started with a 5th Place finish in the Finals at Davenport North. At Keokuk they placed 1st in 3A and 3rd in the Finals. It was again a 1st Place in 3A effort at Pella, with caption awards for Best Band, Best Choreography and Best Vocals, finishing in 3rd in the Finals. Jordan Crooks was named a Star Performer. The competition season ended at Ft. Madison with a 1st Place win in 3A and 2nd place in the Finals, receiving a caption award for Best Closer. VIDEO PHOTOS
The 2022 season began with a 7th place finish among all schools at Davenport North. VIDEO At Pella, InMotion placed 2nd in 3A with Kade Welcher winning the Best Male Soloist award. In the finals they finished as 2nd Runner Up. VIDEO At Central Lee they placed 2nd in 3A, had Thanh Phung named as their Star Performer, received the award for Most Fans in Attendance, and qualified for the finals, placing as 4th Runner Up. VIDEO The competition season concluded at Fort Madison with InMotion coming in 1st place in 3A, winning a caption award for Best Costumes, and finished in the finals as 3rd Runner Up. VIDEO
The 2021 season was influenced greatly by COVID. The Davenport North competition was canceled as well as our own invitational. The rest of the season was different, with limited or no audiences allowed, no evening finals, performers wearing masks, and so on. At Pella, InMotion placed Second. video At Central Lee, InMotion placed First and swept caption awards for Best Vocals, Choreography and Band. Joe Holtkamp was named a Star Performer. video The judging format was different at Fort Madison, where InMotion received a top Division 1 rating and a caption award for Best Ballad. video
In the 2020 season InMotion placed Sixth at Davenport North , First Place at Pella with caption awards for Best Choreography and Best Band, First Place at Central Lee with caption awards for Best Vocals, Best Band and Best Female Soloist (Paige Stater) and at Fort Madison placed Third. video

At Fort Madison, InMotion placed First in 3A and First Runner-Up in the finals. video

InMotion placed second in 3A at Benton and received a caption award for Best Costumes. InMotion received the People's Choice Award and Marlene DePriest was named Most Amazing Director based on a Twitter poll. video

In 2018 InMotion finished as First Runner-Up to Southeast Polk in the Finals at Ft. Madison after placing First in 3A in the Daytime competition. video
For the second consecutive year InMotion came home with the Grand Championship trophy won at Central Lee. Caption awards were won for Best Vocals and Best Band and Wyatt Carlston was one of four among the 3A schools to receive a Star Performer Award. video
At Pella, InMotion finished as First Runner-Up in the finals after also coming in second in 3A in the daytime competition. Bea Fitten was chosen Best Female Soloist. Daytime Video video
InMotion placed as First Runner-Up among eight groups competing in Class 3A at the Benton Touch of Class Invitational. Marlene DePriest was voted Best Director through a poll conducted on Twitter during the event.
The 2018 InMotion consisted of 52 singers and dancers, 13 band and 6 crew members. Choreography was by Ben Schrank and Anne Chapman with music arranged by Jim DePriest. The auditioned ensemble was directed by Marlene DePriest.

2017 InMotion celebrated a Grand Championship at the Fort Madison Invitational. They beat out Davenport North for the top spot, breaking a streak by Davenport North of winning the Grand Championship the past nine years at Fort Madison. It was a clean sweep by InMotion as they won all the caption awards – Best Band, Best Vocals and Best Choreography. And Wyatt Carlston, a junior, was named Best Male Soloist
InMotion took home the Grand Championship at the Central Lee Invitational. They received caption awards for Best Vocals and Best Band. Meagan Sutherland received the Best Female Soloist award and Dalton Krum the Best Male Soloist honor.
InMotion placed second in the finals at the Pella Dutch Masters. Dalton Krum was named Best Male Vocalist among the 19 competing groups. The judges choose one member from each group as a "Star Performer" and Riley Kempker received that honor for InMotion.
InMotion entered their first competition of the season, placing second in 3A at Benton and winning caption awards for Best Choreography, Best Crew, Most Entertaining Show and Wyatt Carlston was named Best Male Soloist.

2016: InMotion placed as First Runner-Up in the finals of the 2016 Quincy Showcase of Excellence after coming in first place in their class in the preliminary session. InMotion also was named Best Iowa Show Choir competing at Quincy.
InMotion took second place in Open Class at the Ft. Madison Invitational for the preliminary round, then finished as Third Runner-Up in the finals. video
InMotion qualified for the finals at the Pella Dutch Masters Invitational and placed as 4th Runner Up.
At the Power City Classic in Keokuk, InMotion placed FIRST in 3A and qualified for the finals, finishing as 5th Runner-Up. The girls group called Acapitches, comprised of Hannah Stater, Aline Thiengmany, Jessie Sirivath, Delayna Cotton, Kailey Peterson, Ally Lowe and Caitlyn DePriest, was named Best Small Ensemble. At the Central Lee Invitational, InMotion took top honors among 3A schools in the daytime round, qualifying for the finals and finished in second place. They received a caption award for Best Vocals and Caitlyn DePriest was named Best Female Soloist among all schools. video The 2016 version of InMotion was made up of 45 singers, 15 band and 6 crew members. Director is Andrew Grove. Choreography was by Damon Brown and L.D. Kidd.

2015: At the 23rd annual Quincy Showcase of Excellence, InMotion finished their 2015 competition season by placing First in the daytime competition. Then they capped off the invitational by placing as First Runner-Up in the finals, garnering a caption award for Best Vocals, the Iowa Choice Award for best show choir from Iowa, and the Sweepstake Award for most points overall. video
InMotion finished third in the finals of the Ft. Madison Invitational, placing behind Davenport North and Pekin Illinois. video
InMotion competed in a tough field with many 4A schools at Southeast Polk but did not make the finals.
InMotion placed second in the finals at Pella. They qualified for the finals after placing second in 3A in the daytime round and received the Best Vocals in Class 3A award. video
InMotion placed as First Runner Up in 3A at The Big Dance at Davenport North. The 2015 ensemble was comprises of 50 singers and dancers (25 boys, 25 girls), nine band members and four crew. Songs in their show were Get Here Medley, Whatever Happens, Listen To My Heart, Runaway Baby, and a Lady Gaga Medley

In 2014, InMotion completed a successful competition season by placing as First Runner-Up in the evening finals at the 4th Red Carpet Gala at West Delaware. They also received the Best Vocals Award. In the Daytime Competition, InMotion placed 2nd in 3A, with Brianne Holtkamp named Best Female Vocalist and Garrett Carlston Best Male Vocalist.
InMotion finished as Second Runner-Up in the Finals of the Stars in the Spotlight Invitational in Fort Madison on March 8. They placed FIRST in 3A in the daytime competition with Garrett Carlston being named Best Male Vocalist.
At the Pella Dutch Masters Invitational, InMotion finished in the finals as 2nd Runner-Up. They placed second among 3A schools in the daytime competition and received a Caption Award for Best Vocals in 3A. Garrett Carlston was named Best Male Soloist and Brianne Holtkamp Best Female Soloist among all classes. Each show choir had one individual named Star Performer and Evelyn Kunch was our winner.
InMotion won the Third Runner-Up spot at the Keokuk Power City Classic. They qualified for the finals by placing first among five schools in the Class 3A division in the daytime competition. There were 19 groups in all at the competition.
The 2014 version of InMotion was comprised of 49 singers, 10 band and 8 crew. Once again Adam Creager worked with the band and Aaron Canterbury was the choreographer.
Songs in the 2014 show were Go the Distance, It Had Better Be Tonight, Finding Wonderland, Boogie Woogie Choo Choo, and Tonight

In 2013 InMotion placed first at Pella and won numerous awards at other competitions. View a video of the performance at Pella here.
This 2013 edition of InMotion was comprised of 50 singers, 16 band members, and 8 crew.
The show was titled "Dreams" and features the songs Let Me Be Your Star/Seize the Day, I Only Know How to Love, Some Nights, and Trespassing.
